The month of November held lots of fun activities for us, including a visit from my sister and niece, and my mom. Here are some of the highlights...

Spooky fun

The month of October was a very busy one, packed full of lots of Halloween activities! For the kids, that meant fun playdates and Halloween crafts. For Joey and I, it meant a Halloween party with friends and a Halloween night out on the town. We won first prize for our costumes at both events! Here are some pictures from our spooky fun month!

Air Show Day

We (Alex especially) have been anticipating this air show since last year when we went to see the Thunderbirds! Alex loved it! He knew the names of just about every aircraft there and had a blast seeing his favorite ones.

I sing, he dances

Thank goodness he doesn't mind my subpar singing skills.

Trip to the Pate Museum

We've been wanting to take Alex to this museum for a while now and we finally got a chance to go! It was a nice little museum, with some old aircraft outside (sorry, don't know the names!) and a bunch of oldies cars inside. Alex was soooo excited, of course! Here are some pics from our visit...

Sandbox Sculptures

Today while Devin and Alex were playing in the sandbox, Alex proudly announced, "I'm making a roller coaster!" And Devin said, "I'm making Walmart!"

Later Alex was not happy with the way his roller coaster came out and asked Daddy to make one for him. Daddy told him that he had done a good job on his roller coaster and asked, "What was it supposed to look like?" Alex replied, "It's supposed to look like FUN."

Canvas

It never fails. Whenever I leave Devin and Alex alone to do art, the art always ends up on Devin's face. Sometimes I can't tell which one of them was the artist though!

Nobody's Birthday

But this is still a super fun song to dance to!

My Kindergartener

Today was Alex's first day of Kindergarten! I dropped him off this morning and he was completely fine. He didn't even seem nervous at all. I was so proud of him! After school he told me all about it and he seems to have really enjoyed it. Overall, I think he had a great first day!

We bowl.

Groovy.

Just had to show off our tie-dye shirts that we made at a recent playdate! I've never made anything like this before, but our friend, Isabel, assured us that there was no wrong way to do tie-dye. I think they came out quite groovy.

Strummin'

Devin sure loves to strum on the guitar, but it seems he's forgotten the words to the song...

Jet Boys

Alex loves jets so much that he often watches documentaries on them. And while he's watching, he often pretends to be one. As for Devin, he just copies everything that big brother does.

The Fourth

Since I am way behind on posting here, I will simply show you a few pics from our Fourth of July festivities...

Waiting for the fireworks to start. (They didn't last long outside though. They were much happier watching Blues Clues inside, while the adults played pyromaniacs outside.)

Dancing to the Wiggles

Just as Alex did at this age, Devin loves the Wiggles!

Alex's Hobby

Anyone who knows Alex knows that he is crazy about jets, airplanes, and helicopters. So when given the opportunity to check them out at an airshow, he jumps at the chance. This particular air show was pretty small, with just a few aircraft, but Alex loved every minute of it!

A walk in the gardens

I love taking the kids to the Botanic Gardens. For one thing, it's free! Add to that some gorgeous weather, beautiful blooming flowers, the company of some good friends, and a picnic lunch and you've got a perfect way to spend the day! Here are some pictures of our most recent trip...

The Graduate

I always thought graduation ceremonies for preschool were silly. That was, until my own first child reached this milestone. What a proud and moving moment it was for me! Not to mention how adorably cute the kids all looked in their caps and gowns!

The ceremony included a musical program and I have to say that Alex was THE most enthusiastic one there! You can tell that he really enjoys being up there singing and entertaining! Check it out for yourself... Oh, and he's in the front row, near the middle.

Mommy Group Luau

I love my Mom's group! We get together a few times a week and do all kinds of fun, creative things. Not only do the activities get us out of the house, but it truly is a great support system. The kids and I have made some wonderful friends, and I honestly don't know where I'd be without this group. The group celebrated its 2nd anniversary on Memorial Weekend. We had a luau at the park and enjoyed a picnic lunch with our friends.

Our family, in a rare family portrait.

My friend, Isabel, and I actually drew and painted
the backdrop for the photos. It took a very, very,
very, very, very long time, but was a lot of fun and
we were quite proud of the end result.

An amazing group of moms and friends.

Alex is five!

Alex had a wonderful birthday party to celebrate his 5th birthday. Even a little storm didn't stop us from having a good time. The day started out beautiful, but as soon as the guests started arriving, it started raining! It was still warm out though, so we just let the kids run around outside in the rain. But we soon got word that a bad storm was heading our way so we were quick to have some pinata fun before taking the party inside. Alex still had a blast, and that's really all that matters. Here are some pics of the birthday boy!

Blogging Woes

I have really enjoyed blogging so far. But as with anything else, once you get behind you start to feel overwhelmed. You start to feel the pressure of coming up with just the right wording. You want to give people an update, but you feel lazy to come up with a cute anecdote. Well, this is my solution. A slideshow of some of the recent pics. The last blog entry was Devin's birthday. Since then we've also had a visit from out-of-town family, Easter, and some other fun things. So here ya go. Whew, now I can relax.

Devin is two!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Devin's 2nd birthday with our friends and family. Food, cake, presents, TWO pinatas and candy, what's not to like? It was a very chilly and windy day, but we still had a great time.
